About Us

Since 2010, the Ganga Mission has been working to keep the Ganga clean, uninterrupted, and pollution-free. In these twelve years, the Mission has accomplished a great deal without any assistance from the government. The expedition has undertaken projects such as pond rehabilitation and tree planting to ensure the safety of the atmosphere. Our mission has repaired and beautified a historic pond near Avani Mall that had been demolished and had become a garbage dump in the region. It is now a popular tourist destination. The Ganga Mission has also restored and embellished several other sites like a ruined water body at Lliluah’s Jangi Babualley, the pond at Brahma Bagicha and the Duke Lake in Howrah.

What We Do

We We held a quiz competition in the schools of Kolkata with the aim of raising public awareness about the importance of keeping the Ganga clean. Hundreds of students from more than a dozen of schools have contended in this competition. The winning students were honoured in the hall of Kala Mandir, Kolkata by the governor of West Bengal. In order to raise public awareness, the Mission had organised a cycle rally from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar. The message to keep Ganga clean and free of obstructions was delivered to the people living in villages, towns, and cities along the way through documentary film shows and Nukkad Natika.

Apart from that, The Mission conducts workshops, conferences, and meetings on a regular basis. The mission has undertaken projects for the protection of the environment, such as pond reconstruction and tree planting. The Mission has rebuilt and enhanced an old pond near Avani Mall that had been severely damaged and turned into a garbage dump. It is now a tourist hotspot. The Mission, on the other hand, has also reconstructed a destroyed pond on Lliluah’s JangiBabulane. The Ganga Mission has also redeveloped and beautified the pond at Brahma Bagicha, and the Duke Lake in Howrah. Ganga Mission is attempting to promote the use of an electric device in the burning of dead bodies in order to save trees. A part of the Ganga Mission has adopted the electric burning devices at Harishchandra Ghat of Varanasi and reconstructed it. It is available free of cost to the public.

To keep the Ganga Ghats clean and pollution-free, the mission had built free public toilets near various Ghats.

The mission provides water coolers at the Ferry Ghats, including Aharitola Ghat.
